#25 Jesus Take the Wheel

 Hey everyone!

We had Zone Conference on Wednesday which was awesome as always. There were so many amazing trainings. I also got to see my kid Elder Empey again which was really fun.

Holy cow! The amount of time my companion played Jesus Take the Wheel by the cast of VeggieTales is crazy! He would put it on when he went in the shower and then have it autoplay the whole time. I've probably heard that song close to 50 times. So now I have the whole song memorized.

We had our housing inspection this week and the couple who did our inspection said that we had the cleanest and most well organized apartment they had ever seen. See Mom, I told you I wouldn't be super messy when I was on my own (it was mostly Elder Gates who kept our apartment clean. I did my part too, but he's definitely the MVP).

OK now it's miracle time. We went to go knock these two people we're teaching that we hadn't gotten in contact with for a while. We got there around 7:45 and it looked like all the lights were off. But then we remembered that they often get off work around 8, so we decided to wait and see if they would show up. We waited about 5 minutes and then they did show up! They invited us in and said even though they hadn't been responding to our texts, they had been seeing them. A couple days before she had been going through a hard time and right as she was about to start to cry we sent her a text with a scripture and she said it was exactly what she needed. We then had a super Spirit filled lesson and it was awesome!

The past few weeks I had felt a little down because it felt like no matter what we did, the work wasn't progressing. I'd often tell myself "once we have people we're teaching I'll be a lot happier." Then at zone conference one of the missionaries who was going home soon said one thing she learned on her mission was to not postpone your happiness. So I decided to give it a try. At first the work was still going about the same, but I was just a lot happier when I actually let myself be happy. And then because I was in a better mood, we saw so many more miracles. We met this super awesome friend who went to BYU many years ago and is now interested in learning more. We also were able to have lessons with a lot of our friends. I know that when we joyfully go about doing the work, we will see more miracles! 😊

Now it's time for the scriptures of the week. Helaman 3:27 "Thus we may see that the Lord is merciful unto all who will, in the sincerity of their hearts, call upon his holy name." The Lord is so merciful to us. He loves us so much and He wants to help us, but often we have to call out to Him first. In this verse we also learn how important it is that we sincerely call on His name. When we pray we need to really mean it. I can promise you that Heavenly Father wants to hear from you, so reach out to Him. Call upon Him everyday. Reach out to Him and talk to Him. He loves you so much.

Have a wonderful week!
