#29 Pahrump!

Image
Pahrump is pretty fun!   It's a lot different than Vegas and makes me feel like I'm in a completely different mission. There's desert everywhere. We do have a couple neighborhoods in our area, but for the most part the houses are very spread out. The one thing that isn't great is that there are so many dogs. And for those of you who know me, you know I don't really like dogs. And their pretty scary dogs  A lot of the work here is with members who don't really come to church which is different than what I'm used to, but it's still good!  We had quite a few lessons with our friend Jimmy this week and he said he wants to be baptized   But he will be moving very soon so we're going to have to figure that out. But it doesn't matter where he gets baptized because the covenant is the same everywhere. He came to church on Sunday and absolutely loved it! He also brought free circus tickets and started to give them out to everyone. Basically, he's ju...

#28 Over the Hump We Go

How's it going? There was quite a bit that happened this week. On Thursday it actually rained! That never happens in Vegas. Because of that the roads were super oily and very slippery. But we still went out biking! This member gave us some BYU ponchos so we looked really funny biking around with our BYU ponchos. And my brakes sounded sounded terrible. We had dinner at our Bishop's house that day and we had to sit on towels cuz we didn't want to get there chairs all wet because our pants were soaked. After dinner it was pouring but our Bishop just drove us around for the rest of the day which was really nice. Friday we help to build the pergola again which was pretty fun. We then had dinner on our own that night because it was Valentine's Day and apparently nobody wanted us to join their Valentine's date. Which I think is weird because I think we're pretty fun. But I guess it's understandable. We had two people come to church this week which was super aweso...

#27 Concrete Pancakes

I was set apart as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 6 months ago today. That's just crazy This week was full of ups and downs, but hey, that's just life for you.  On Wednesday I went on an exchange with Elder Faires. He's been out for 1 month, but he's already doing amazing. But I definitely wore him out biking   His area is not a biking area and we're all bike, so he was pretty tired at the end of the day, but that's alright! Thursday was kinda sad, because one of our friends just flat out said he doesn't want to be baptized. We testified a bunch, but it didn't change much. And then we got rejected the rest of the day. But Friday was pretty amazing. I was not really looking forward to it, because it was so windy, and biking in the wind isn't super fun. And while we were almost blown into traffic a couple of times, it was honestly awesome! We met some really cool new people and we were able to get members involved. I...

#26 Bike Problems

What's going on everyone?! I hope y'all had a good week! On Wednesday we had our interviews with President. He's just so wise and always helps out with anything. And it's also always fun geeking out with Sister Nielson about the Book of Mormon. She's an absolute legend These past few days have been gorgeous outside. I don't know why, but I feel more like a missionary going put in a short sleeve white shirt. But it's gonna get kinda cold again later this week  We've had so many bike problems this week. Elder Gates has gotten so many flat tires. We bought a new tire and started pumping it up and then it exploded   It sounded like a gun shot. It was honestly so loud. We got it fixed and it lasted one day before both his front and back tires went flat   What's super funny is that he has a mountain bike and I have a road bike and we go "offroading" a lot (only when there isn't a sidewalk) so I should be getting these flat tires, but mine h...
