#8-Play Date with President
What's up everybody! I hope everyone had a great week!
This week was weird because it had some of the best days and also some of the hardest days of my mission so far. To start off, you know how the past two weeks I talked about how the weather was absolutely perfect. Well, it turns out, Las Vegas was actually hitting us with the nastiest pump fake of all time because it's back up to 105 everyday and I'm sweating buckets again
. But now everyone we talk to offers us water so that's pretty great.
. But now everyone we talk to offers us water so that's pretty great. On Wednesday I went on exchanges with one of our zone leaders Elder Blackham. That day was so much fun. We talked to absolutely everyone we saw even if they were far away and we had to speed walk to catch up with them. We also brought a ward member named Sergio along for a couple hours that day. He's preparing to serve in the Missoula Montana mission and he's so cool. It made it so much fun.
On Thursday we had what we call our "play date" with President and Sister Nielson. All the new missionaries got together and played volleyball and President was so funny. He'd say things like "You guys are going down like the Lamanites" and "Don't worry, even the mighty Captain Moroni lost some battles." Basically every point he would whip out some scriptural reference. We also played this game where we got the name of another new missionary and we had to draw them and then guess who it was supposed to be. I was able to guess mine right away. Afterwards, we were waiting for our trainers to come pick us up. I was holding my drawing and I felt like a 4 year old who's waiting for their dad to pick them up from daycare.
Now this week was difficult because we still really don't have anyone to teach. We have a few people that are kind of interested, but no one that we're actively teaching. We found one person who is very interested and she wants to come to church, but she says we can't come to her house because her husband does not like the missionaries. So that should be interesting. So if you guys could pray for Elva and her husband that would be great!
We had stake conference this past weekend and it was great, except for the fact that no one that said they would show up actually showed up :( I do understand that it's difficult because it's at a different church at a different time but it was still kind of sad.
This week in my personal study I was reading in 2 Nephi chapter 25. My favorite verse from that chapter is verse 26 which says, 26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins. This verse shows that Jesus Christ is our everything. He is our talk, He is our joy, He is who we preach of, and He is the one who the prophets prophesy of. This weekend is General Conference. This is when the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints share messages focused on Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel. My invitation to you all is to go into conference with a question, and I promise that you will find the answer.
Also I know this doesn't have to do with me, but shoutout Ben "the jet" Jensen for breaking the Mountain View XC school record!

I hope you all have a fantastic week and enjoy watching General Conference this weekend!
