#12 Trunk or Treat
How's it going?
I hope you all had a great week! Mine had some ups and downs so let's get into it.
We had a ward trunk or Treat on Thursday which was really fun! They had us missionaries judge the costumes and the trunks. We gave the best costume award to this 3 or 4 year old girl dressed up in a Belle costume. It made her day and it was fun to see how happy it made her. We also got glow-up watches and Pokémon cards. We got some pretty good pictures with our watches and with Garfield.
I also went on exchanges with Elder Deuel this week. He loved watching animated stories from the Book of Mormon when he was younger so we got to talk about that which was cool. We also got bashed which was really funny. He was saying the Jesus is the only way to heaven and we just told him that we agree. He then had to change his argument. But we just testified of Jesus Christ instead of arguing.
This weekend was looking like it was going to be fantastic for lessons, but then one by one almost all of the lessons canceled and one of our friends said she doesn't want us to message her anymore. So that was really sad. And no one wanted to hear a message that day. So Friday and Saturday were pretty tough. But then Sunday came and it was awesome! We were able to have a couple of lessons with our friends and they went really well. So that made me feel better.
Other than that not too much happened this week. We have zone conference coming up this week on Halloween. So I'm looking forward to that!
This week I was in the war chapters of the Book of Mormon. I've always loved the story of the 2000 strippling warriors. I love the fact that they were wounded, but none of them were killed. Verse 26 in Alma chapter 57 talks about how that happened. "26 And now, their preservation was astonishing to our whole army, yea, that they should be spared while there was a thousand of our brethren who were slain. And we do justly ascribe it to the miraculous power of God, because of their exceeding faith in that which they had been taught to believe—that there was a just God, and whosoever did not doubt, that they should be preserved by his marvelous power." We all have our own "wars" in our lives. This may be school, friends, or work. When we tackle these situations with faith we will be able to make it through. We may still be "injured" and go through struggle for a little bit, but we can have faith knowing that we will be successful through Jesus Christ. I testify that everything that is good is possible through Him!
Have a great week!
