#32 My Own Alma Experience

I hope everyone had the best week of their entire life!! Mine was pretty solid so let's get into it!

I went on exchanges with Elder Fabrizio on Thursday. He's from Eagle Idaho πŸ₯” and apparently I ran against him in middle school cross country. So that's kinda cool. Also that day I did my first Baptismal interview. It was a really cool experience. He was so ready and has an amazing testimony. Right after the interview we called a referral who we've been trying to have a lesson with for a long time. She answered her phone and we were able to have a fantastic lesson with her. She used to be a member and was wanting to start coming back but she didn't know if she would be welcome. We testified and then added our Relief Society President to the call who had the BEST member participation that I have ever seen! She was testifying, inviting, and promising blessings. She's an absolute legend πŸ‘ πŸ™Œ

On Saturday we drove into Vegas for a breakfast with all the missionaries and leaders in out stake. It was at a member of my old ward's house which was really fun. It did take up quite a bit of our day though πŸ˜¬

We had like 7 or 8 people say they'd try to make it to church, but only 1 ended up showing up πŸ˜’ But hey, 1 is better than none, and our friend that came had an amazing time and was fellowshipped very well. He wants to keep learning more and he knows that Jesus Christ can help him through his trials.

Yesterday as a whole mission, we did something called the Alma Experience (Alma the elder. We didn't have an angel come down and chastise us like Alma the younger πŸ˜“). For two hours we studied the Abinadi chapters from the Book of Mormon and we were supposed to place ourselves in the shoes of Alma. After getting told we need to repent by a prophet of God, we did something that our mission president calls going to Gethsemane. We did this for the next 4 and a half hours (I'll attach a photo of how to do it if any of y'all want to give it a try). It was a really awesome experience to imagine myself in the garden with the Lord as He suffered for the sins of the world and especially my sins. The amount of love the Savior has for each of us is unfathomable. It was so painful that even Jesus Christ, the greatest of all, trembled and cried out. But He pushed through, because that was the ONLY way we could make it back to live with Him again. My appreciation for the Savior deepened so much yesterday. One verse that really stuck out to me was Doctrine and Covenants 19:16
"16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;"
We don't have to feel the pain that He felt. He already felt it! He already paid the price! Now we just need to use the gift He has given us by repenting each and every day, and then running out into the world and proclaiming that the Lord lives and that they can find strength through the Atonement of Jesus Christ!  The Lord lives! Jesus is the Christ! He loves you! In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

I hope y'all have a great week!
